Modern apartment with a vintage touch

post

Jordane Arrivetz is an interior designer who finds her inspiration from different aspects of the design culture, especially the 50s and 60s. The apartment she styled combines modern, clean lines, like the kitchen counter and bathroom, with vintage elements  like the old ladder in the kitchen and the frames in the living room. I think both are very well combined and give the apartment character and personality.

Simple, calm and neutral home

post

This completely renovated home with white walls and light floors is just gorgeous isn’t it ? I think it shows that a house doesn’t need a lot of color to be interesting (even though I like some pops of color here and there). I think it gives the place such a calm and peaceful vibe.

Home with vintage elements

post

There´s something about vintage furniture pieces. They make a home look original and personal. Other than the built quality, vintage pieces usually tell a story. Finding out and fantasizing about where a chair or table came from, who the person was that owned it and the reason why he or she bought this piece of furniture make it a unique experience, which you could never have with a new piece. Personally, I like vintage the most when it is combined with a few newer pieces. Old and new go really well together if you ask me.

French paradise in Denmark

post

This is Christina L. Jensen’s apartment, a french paradise in Denmark. She likes to take her sister and parents to France and shop the many flea markets, where you can find the prettiest things for no money. What I like most about this home is the floors, ceilings and bare wall in the kitchen. The painting in the living room is Christina’s own work, which adds a lot of personality to the place. Bright apartment with splashes of color

post

Look at this wonderful light filled apartment with lots of white and wood! Some playful and colorful accessories were added in the living room and kitchen to make the place more lively and personal, while the bedroom was kept very calm and quit. A perfect balance if you ask me.

Shelf by Torafu Architects

post

I saw this shelf from Torafu Architects and thought it was quit interesting. It’s another product with a secret hiding place (as you might have noticed in my previous posts, I tend to like that). The small wooden cylinders contain a magnet. If you place the magnets on the right place of the shelf, you can pull it and the drawer will open. I think this is a very cute design.

Carbon Chair by Bert Jan Pot

post

In the development of the Fiberglass DSR Chair by Charles Eames, more than fifty years ago, a carbon prototype of the chair was built. Till today, the prototype still stands because of it’s brilliant engineering. Bert Jan Pot designed the Carbon Chair in corporation with Marcel Wanders for Moooi, inspired by the carbon prototype Eames once created.
The pattern on the seat is very intriguing and reflects the strength pattern of the original DSR chair. Every point on the rim of the chair is connected with the four points connecting the seat to the base frame. But most of all, I think this chair is really pretty to look at.
