This stylish attic home in Sweden (Styled by Nouvel Interior, photographed by Mariah Sahlander for Bjurfors Beyond) has a sloped roof on both sides, dividing the apartment into two main sections, where different room functionalities are included.
One of the sections has a black wall with a glossy black kitchen in front of it, which is paired with a vintage table used as a kitchen island in the middle and a beautiful round dining table in front of the balcony window.
The living room features a black leather sofa paired with a mixture of natural wood tones and a vintage painting on the wall and the rest of the living room interior is decorated in a mixture of strong black tones and naturals as well.
A black leather couch and natural tones in the living room
The black leather sofa takes a lot of attention in the living room with white walls. The large cream area rug adds a light tone to the hardwood floor, from which the black leather stands out even better. The wall above the sofa is decorated with a vintage painting, which adds a lot of character to the space.
The black and white pendant light is hung up above the coffee table and adds a beautiful sculptural element to the space. The wood tones in the coffee table, armchairs, and side table add a natural hue to the color palette and these wood tones soften everything out.
The pillar wall in between the two living room windows is used for a low-hanging wall shelf that can display a selection of decor objects next to the living room table.
The green armchair is the only colorful element in the living room setting and it adds a subtle fresh touch to the space.
A glossy black kitchen against a black wall
You don’t often see glossy black kitchen cabinets that work well in a space, however, the combination of the matt black wall and the high-gloss treatment on the cabinets in the space looks very interesting. The antique painting on top of the kitchen adds a beautiful warm touch and the vintage table in front of the kitchen works perfectly as a kitchen island.
The kitchen dining area features a round dining table with vintage dining chairs in dark wood. The matching dark wood bench against the wall completes this look perfectly.
A dining area with a floating black metal fireplace
Opposite the living room, you can find another larger dining area that pairs a black round dining table with beautiful wood dining chairs. the floating fireplace is the true focal point in this space however and it ties the design of the living and dining room together nicely.
A dark grey bedroom wall color paired with white textiles
The dark grey wall color in the bedroom is paired with a white headboard, white textiles on the bed, white curtains, and a white fabric pendant light. The darker wall color accentuates the sloped bedroom ceiling and the vintage bedside tables add a beautiful dark wood color tone to the setting.
An impressive vintage secretary desk fills the area next to the window and provides the bedroom with a home office spot.
Two smaller bedrooms underneath a sloped roof
Two smaller bedrooms feature a single bed and a few storage shelves. The color palette of the first bedroom is very black and white with a fresh green plant adding a bit of color in front of the window.
The second bedroom has a beige bedroom and a vintage school desk adds character to this setting.
A small entryway with storage leads to the main living area
A small entryway area with a mirror reflecting the light from the skylights above it greets you when you enter the apartment. From this entryway, you are led straight into the main living area of the apartment.
A black mudroom bench in the entryway provides storage space and a place to sit and put on your shoes.
