This gorgeous turn-of-the-century apartment in Sweden (Styled by Emma Fisher and Annica Clarmell, photographed by Walti Hösli for Entrance Makleri) is a perfect showcase of how dark walls can make such a stylish, dramatic expression in space that gets a lot of daylight.
The shared living and sleeping space is painted in a black wall color with a blue undertone, which makes the white crown molding and the window frames stand out beautifully.
The kitchen has contrasting black cabinets paired with a stainless steel countertop and a dining table with vintage chairs in the middle. One side of the kitchen is finished with a beautiful wallpaper design that continues into the entryway section of this one-bedroom apartment.
A living and sleeping space with a dark blue-black wall color
The characteristic wall color used in the living space is black with a subtle blue undertone, which fits the space wonderfully and makes the gorgeous white crown molding underneath the ceilings stand out in such a powerful way.
The sheer white curtains paired with the white fabric sofa, beige fluffy area rug, and the white IKEA Besta cabinet lighten up the palette in the sofa area.
The white base palette in the sofa area is paired with a mixture of subtle wood tones in the small furniture pieces and a beautiful combination of beige, green, and grey tones in the throw pillows on the sofa.
The sleeping area on the other side pairs the same color palette of textiles on the bed connecting the two functional areas together visually.
The large standing mirror next to the bed reflects the space and together with the vintage portrait, it adds a classic note to the style of this space.
By the white historic door, a white cabinet and a peg rail stand out against the dark wall color and from this angle, you can really see the blue undertone in the paint color appear.
A black kitchen with a stylish wallpaper
The kitchen in this apartment has an assymetric floor plan, which is accentuated by a beautiful kitchen wallpaper design. The dining table in the middle of the space is paired with classic black dining chairs and a black glass cabinet finds its place next to the window.
The black kitchen cabinets stand out against the white walls and the white fridge, while a vintage portrait and vintage copper pendants add a classic touch.
The stainless steel countertop matches the stainless steel stove and hood for a slight industrial touch in the space. The copper gas pipeline, which was probably a necessity is laid out in a way so that it can be used as a rail to hang small kitchen items. A great way to make this look more intentional.
A stainless steel rolling cart matches the kitchen countertop and provides extra storage space in front of the kitchen window.
An entryway with the same wallpaper and an old built-in closet
The entryway wallpaper has the same pattern as the one in the kitchen to tie both spaces together. The old built-in closet has classic white doors that stand out against the graphic design of the wallpaper.
