A grey shaker kitchen with a breakfast nook and a dark grey bedroom

Grey is the base color used to decorate this beautiful apartment in Sweden (Styled by Emma Fisher, Annica Clarmell, and Anna Granberg, photographed by Peter Pousard for Alvhem). It works so well in the interior design.

The grey shaker kitchen is planned over an entire kitchen wall, allowing space on the other side for a cozy dining table with a breakfast nook. The shiplap wall behind the bench and the high wall shelving give this seating area a subtle farmhouse touch for a cozy and inviting effect.

The living room has white walls, grey couches, and a neutral decor for a calm and tranquil look. The bedroom, on the other hand, has a dark grey wall color which gives it a moody and dramatic expression that can be seen from the living room.

The white living room wall color is paired with a white fluffy area rug and white curtains in front of the window. From this white backdrop, the grey living room couches and the black wall lamp stands out beautifully.

A Samsung Frame TV decorates the wall next to the door and a wood bench underneath it is a great spot for keeping magazines.

The textiles and small accessories in the space are all selected in a neutral color palette, providing the decor with a calming and tranquil aesthetic.

The grey shaker kitchen cabinets stand out against the white kitchen wall color, which results in a similar color palette as in the living room. The medium grey cabinets are finished with chrome hardware and a stone countertop for an elegant combination of materials.

The kitchen layout spreads over one of the kitchen walls, with lower cabinets and a set of upper cabinets in which the range hood is integrated.

The area next to the kitchen door is used for tall cupboards, including the oven and fridge. A gap in between the wall and the tall grey cupboard is used for a narrow bookshelf. This shelf is ideal to optimize a gap space and for keeping cookbooks.

By the kitchen window, you find a cozy dining area with a bench against the wall. This breakfast nook is finished off with shiplap on the walls, adding a farmhouse touch to this section of the kitchen.

The dark grey color in the bedroom gives this space a slightly moody and dramatic look. The white headboard, curtains, and light fixtures pop out of this dark wall color and brighten the palette.

The entryway is painted in a light grey wall color, which makes the black and white palette in the furniture pieces and accessories stand out in a lovely way.

The end of the entryway is used to place a small home office desk. Even though this spot doesn’t get any natural light, it’s great to have a dedicated space to take the occasional meeting or to answer emails.
