Beautiful apartment with great turn of the century features

post

This beautiful Swedish apartment really has some extraordinary turn-of-the-century details starting with the old wing doors and beautiful windows to the paneling in the dining room, which looks original to me.

The large kitchen in a classic shaker style with grey cabinets and grey granite countertops looks very fresh and inviting. I love the big kitchen island with the sink in the middle and the large oak shelving on the wall to keep decor items.

The dining room has eye-catching wainscoting, which is enhanced even more by painting the top part of the wall in a deep blue color. This space has a slightly odd shape, with a niche going up to the window which has been utilized as a seating area.

The kids’ room, living room, bedroom, and office space (this is quite a big apartment) all have different wall colors and I love the way you can see from one room into the other and the wall colors complement each other. The beige wall color in the living room really enhances the warmth coming from the vintage fireplace.

white home with beige and terracotta accents

post

The walls in this beautiful Swedish apartment are all kept white, with white cotton curtains* in the bedroom and no window treatments in the other rooms for a light and airy look.

The white sofa combined with a beige area rug and wood tints in the furniture makes for a very neutral base palette in the living room, which is enhanced by details and accessories with different textures. The polka dot pillow and the Plissé lamp shade really stand out here for example and I love the big art work in terracotta tints which makes a statement above the wooden bench.

The black and white hand painted vase* in the kitchen dining area stands out a lot as well, since it’s the only black accent in the otherwise neutral color palette. The bedroom has a color palette that goes in line with the rest of the apartment, with the dark beige Duvet cover* warming up the otherwise white palette.

Beautiful bedroom in blue

post

I absolutely love the way the color palette is coming together in this light flooded bedroom. The walls and the door to the walk in closet are all painted in a muted blue paint color, which gives the space a moody yet fresh vibe. This darker wall color makes the grey and white linen pillow cases* and duvet cover* on the bed stand out and I love the blue coming back in the art print above the bed and in the Louise Roe candle holders on the bedside table.

The mirror next to the living room door reflects the light and the space in a nice way and I love the way the white cabinet stands out against the walls as well.

White home with natural tones

post

I think this home with all white walls is looking everything but boring don’t you think ? I love the way the daylight coming through those huge windows lined with off white curtains* is reflected off the white walls and the darker accents in the interior just stand out much more like this as well.

The fluffy area combined with the beige sofa and the many beige, and warm toned pillow cases* make the sofa area very cozy and separate it from the dining area, located in the same room. I love the vintage dining table that is painted in white and combined with black dining chairs, which stand out so much against the white of the walls and the table. The same look has been achieved in the smaller dining area in the kitchen as well, with a white table combined with black bentwood chairs.

Match from Reform in a Berlin apartment

post

A little while ago, Flemish design duo Muller Van Severen designed Match for Reform, where they implemented their signature material – the durable and wax-like polyethylene traditionally used in cutting boards – with playful brass handles and a lush countertop for an extraordinary kitchen design available in six bold, yet nuanced colors.

Match has since been a real eye-catcher in the interior world and I thought I would share this apartment in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where they combined the colourful Reform design with a statement kitchen floor in a small, yet functional space. The owners of this beautiful apartment had set their mind on a kitchen in natural materials, but upon seeing the Match design when it came out, they changed their plans and decided to do something fun and characterful for their Berlin apartment.

Even though the other rooms in their home are a bit calmer, they were guided by the design of the kitchen for the adjacent dining area, which features a bold green round dining table and a green wall lamp from Valérie Objects, also designed by Muller Van Severen.

In addition to the functional kitchen setup with Ikea elements, they went with a storage solution from Dieter Rams, which contrasts the playful look of the kitchen perfectly in my opinion. I also really like they way the red and white tiles go over into the wooden flooring of the living room, which is another eye-catching feature in this space.

Cozy home with warm tints and great accessories

post

I think this Swedish apartment (Styled by Emma Fisher, photographed by Jonas Berg for Stadshem) has been decorated in such a careful and well-considered way, with textiles, accessories, and art prints adding interesting textures and variety in the warm color palette of this space.

The living room is especially cozy with the large velvet area rug covering almost the entire space. The gallery wall above the warm grey sofa makes this room unique and I like the difference between the darker palette at the sofa area and the lighter palette near the dining area with the light wood and white chairs.

The bedroom shares the same warm color palette, enhanced with tints of grey in the headboard and the bedding. I love the way the linen bed skirt adds even more texture to the many linen fabrics on the bed.

Bedroom in peachy colors

post

I’m not someone that naturally goes for pink or peachy colors when selecting items for my own interior, but I think this bedroom has such a beautiful spring vibe because of the colors used, it instantly lifts your mood. The burned orange and peachy bedlinen* on the bed go so nicely with the colors in the art print and the poppies next to the bed just enhance this happy spring color palette even more.

classic kitchen in sage green

post
A classic kitchen with sage green cabinets and white shiplap on the walls

I’m usually more fond of minimal and modern kitchens, but I think this farmhouse kitchen in sage green has just so much style and character, I couldn’t really imagine anything else in this room. This kitchen for example is a perfect balance of modern yet still classic.

The lower cabinets have been painted sage green, while the upper cabinets got a cream lick of paint, which makes the overall look of the space lighter and airy. I love the way this color theme is reversed in the dining area, where the shiplap on the wall has been painted cream and the wallpaper on the top has a matching green tint in it. This has been so well thought through.

If you are looking for more sage green kitchen inspiration, make sure to check out this blog post where I listed my favorite kitchen ideas with sage green cabinets.
