antoniolupi

post

During my visit to IMM Cologne in January this year I was introduced to Italian brand antoniolupi and their beautiful universe of bathroom products ranging from the most elegantly hidden shower heads to statement sinks and tubs that can add character to a bathroom design, to taps, mirrors and furnishings just to name a few. Their display of the Gessati washbasins designed by Gumdesign (which you can see in the first picture) caught my attention in Cologne and I kept browsing their stand to discover their wide range of carefully crafted, high quality bathroom elements, a fitting piece for every project.

The company was founded by Antonio Lupi himself back in 1950 in a small town in Florence. It started out as glass workshop, dedicated to bathroom products distinguished by their quality, attention to detail and tailor-made production. For Antonio, ‘Made in Italy’ meant industrial production with highly qualified expert craftsmen which could produce their products fast, precise and accurate – the true basics of the companies DNA until today.

After Antonio’s children joined the company in the eighties, the focus on collaborations with designers was added and since then they have been adding prestigious architects and young designers to their list of products and projects carried out all over the world. The study of what is new and attention to every form of creativity is a very important way of working inside the company, which has placed it at the forefront of process innovation, aesthetics and functional research.

They experiment to find new use of materials and use advanced technology to update the value of older materials. An example of this is the material Flumood (seen in the picture above in the left) used in many of the antoniolupi products, which was born out of continuous research. It’s ecological, compact, non-purous, uniform, non-toxic and flexible – making it an ideal material for the creativity of designers but above all ideal for customers as well, as it can be easily cleaned, is hygienic, durable and resistant.

Cristalmood (seen in the picture above on the right) – another innovation from their research –  is a resin with extraordinary characteristics, designed to give lightness and solidity to washbasins and bathtubs. The material is transparent, which makes it possibly to observe the flow of water and read its movements. It’s available in ten trendy colors, which are in constant dialogue with the light.

The brand has a tailored approach to different projects and can customize their collections according to the projects’ needs, which in turn allows for experimenting and anticipating contemporary trends while also meeting he most diverse needs of both customers and designers. They consider themselves a partner of architects and interior designers to develop the most aesthetically pleasing but also state-of-the-art soliutons in both residential and non-residental spaces.

I picked out two of my favorite projects to share with you and the first one – of which you can see the pictures above – is be The Wine House by SL Project studio in Moscow.  The space has a very open layout, with glass partitions separating the bathroom from the other rooms laying even more emphasis on the bathroom design. The Introverso sink designed by Paolo Ulian is a true eye-catcher in this space. In this project it was used in its entirety, but there is the possibility to sculpt the edges, revealing the raw sculpture concealed inside. In the master bathroom, the Baia tub designed by Carlo Colombo is stealing the show with its minimal lines and subtile presence next to the beautiful marble slabs on the wall.

The second project I really like is City Life, designed by Paolo Frello in Milan (pictured above) built on the 5th floor of one of the buildings designed by Zaha Hadid. The designers aimed to paying homage to the late iconic architect without disrupting her desired style. In the bathroom the organically shaped Silenzio washbasin was used, which is made out of Corian and fits the design language of the architecture like a glove.

antoniolupi has a very wide range of bathroom products, which range from eye-catching pieces like the Introverso sink, to modest and minimal items like the Silenzio washbasin, to hidden away fixtures like their Ghost showerheads. Every bathroom project has its own requirements in terms of design and functionality and the brand offers a solution for every project, big or small.

This blogpost was written in collaboration with antoniolupi , however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and their wide range of bathroom products, make sure to have a look at their newly designed website.

Turn of the century home in warm tints

post

The turn-of-the-century details in this beautiful Swedish home are simply amazing. The light beige wall color enhances the moldings on the walls, windows, and doors even more and matches perfectly with the warm color of the hardwood flooring.

The living room is shared with the kitchen which fills up an entire wall, but nothing more to leave space for the sofa and dining area. I think the little round dining table in the corner by the door to the bedroom works very nicely here and the area is visually separated by placing a gallery wall in this corner. The sofa area has a beige area rug underneath which makes it its own area as well and by placing the velvet lounge chair the areas are even more distinguished.

The beige bedroom uses the same color palette as the living room with a mixture of white, black, and nude pink textiles, topped with a beige waffle throw*. I like what they did with the two pedestals in front of the standing mirror as well, it makes this corner special.

Beautiful home with black accent pieces

post

I love the character and style of this apartment with black accent furniture and accessories. The bedroom lays in between the kitchen and the living room and the dark nude pink bedsheets are visible from both adjacent rooms, which is such a nice touch.

I love the black dining table in the kitchen combined with the terracotta accessories on top and in in the living room you can see my Hestar art print included in the beautiful gallery wall.

Red accents: Linnéa Salmén for Rum Hemma

post

This beautiful styling by Swedish Linnéa Salmén is just so on point. I love the balance she created with the mixture of beige and white linen, the fluffy area rug and the beige armchair in combination with the black accents on the armchair and lamp. The oak wood bench in front of the bed gives this styling a soft look, while the red bedside table adds an interesting pop of color.

Kinuta Terrace

post

Kinuta terrace is the result of the shared design values of Norm Architects and Tokyo based design studio Keiji Ashizawa. They both have a love for material richness and timeless appeal, which shows in this beautiful terrace home designed for ReBITA inc.

This beautiful home is located in a residential area of Tokyo, in a mutli-story apartment building featuring a green courtyard with a garden passage. The changing of the colors of the trees, such a big event in Japan, is visible through the big windows and reflected on the glass top of the coffee table. The designers focused on the connection between landscape and interior space and harmonized materials for interiors, details and furniture to meet the desires of urban dwellers to return to nature.

RÖ Skin in St. Mary’s Hill

post

This beautiful space belongs to Rö Skin in St. Mary’s Hill UK.  The space was designed by O’Sullivan Skoufoglou Architects who were inspired by traditional apothecaries to transform this space into a light and bright haven of tranquility. Cane mesh was used as the wall treatment to allow transparency, light and visual connection. It’s a reference to the Stamford woollen mesh cloth produces in the Middle Ages.

Renovated home with black accent pieces

post

Look at this beautifully renovated turn of the century home with large windows and an open planned layout. The renovations are done in a more modern way than what we usually see. The flooring is a concrete tile instead of a wood and the ceiling is lowered slightly, which makes the curtains fit in underneath.

I love the soft light grey paint on the walls combined with the warm beige on the curtains and the black accent furniture pieces. It might not be how I would renovate or decorate this space, but I find the dramatic and characterful effect inspiring.

Bedroom and office combined

post

Ideally, a home has so many rooms for each purpose (wouldn’t that be great), but in reality, we often have to combine different functions into one space. Luckily you can get creative and find custom solutions so your small space can have everything you need. This bedroom office is a great example of combining purposes in a creative way.

The bed is placed in the main area of the room by the window, with space for a large wardrobe for ample storage space. Behind the wood divider wall, the owners created a cozy work spot, still allowing the natural daylight to come through, but creating a separate area.

Light flooded apartment on two levels

post

This loft home on two levels gets so much natural light from the double windows and I love the way the kitchen has been made the centre of the home. I’m really wondering how these plants are watered every single time, but they certainly do look great there on the upper kitchen cabinets don’t they ?

The bedroom fits in a small niche space next to the kitchen and a closet solution separates this area from the dining area next to it. The upstairs area is used for a cozy sofa area from which you have a great view outside and onto the plants in the kitchen.
