Creative home office corner

post

I love seeing creative home office spaces and I think this one really looks like an inspiring place to get some work done. I love the old archive chest where prints can be stored and it has been made even better by the large plant on top.

The desk space has open shelving on top for extra storage space and I love the Ikea picture rail which has been painted in the same color as the wall to display some art prints and add a personal touch.

Bedroom and office combined

post

Ideally, a home has so many rooms for each purpose (wouldn’t that be great), but in reality, we often have to combine different functions into one space. Luckily you can get creative and find custom solutions so your small space can have everything you need. This bedroom office is a great example of combining purposes in a creative way.

The bed is placed in the main area of the room by the window, with space for a large wardrobe for ample storage space. Behind the wood divider wall, the owners created a cozy work spot, still allowing the natural daylight to come through, but creating a separate area.

Small guest bedroom and office

post

I love it wen small spaces are optimally used and combine different functions well. This small guest room for example combines a small guest bed in front of the window, with beautiful white linen bedsheets* and a beige linen bedspread* with a small desk in the corner that is perfect for getting work done.

Especially now, considering recent events, when most of us are working form home, it’s so nice to see this kind of inspirational homes with small office spaces. You can create such an office area for yourself with a small table, chair and desk lamp. That’s all you need really.

My home office

post

My home office is my happy space. Of course I’m not happy 100% of the time, but I am mostly and can truly say I love what I do. Even though working from home has its challenges sometimes, I feel like I have created a comfortable and inspiring spot where I can be both productive and creative. This is so important when working from home isn’t it ?

Rooftop hallway office space

post

Creating a small home office or desk in your home can be so nice and having a dedicated spot to get some work done can make you so much more creative and productive as well. You don’t need an extra room for this and as this rooftop space shows, you can fit a small desk nearly anywhere.

The owners of this Swedish home built a desk along the curved edges of this rooftop, which is very smart as this would be space otherwise lost. By painting the wall and desks black and leaving the ceiling white, a very contrasting look is created which looks very characterful.

The Lassen chair in my home office

post

A few weeks ago I showed you my standing desk here on the blog and I’m still happily switching around between standing up and sitting down. While sitting though I wanted a very comfortable chair that looks stylish as well, something I find very important since I work from home.

The Lassen chair is designed by Flemming Lassen, Magnus Sangild and Marianne Viktor as an ode to Flemming Lassen’s uncompromising approach and special feel for detail, aesthetics, quality and form. The upholstered seat and back is placed on a geometric frame in powder-coated black metal and the dining chair embraces one’s body, letting you sit comfortably for hours on end. I chose a dark blue upholstery (called Jupiter) from Danish Art Weaving which has the prettiest detailing and texture.

I’m so in love with this iconic design piece in my home office and am a big fan of the contrast it adds to the otherwise neutral color palette of whites, beige and wood in this room. On and around the desk I worked with the Kubus Flowerpots, Kubus bowls and accessories from the Frame collection to create a coherent look with lots of storage options. I like to use the Frame boxes to keep post-its, pens and clips and the Frame Tray is keeping things together on my desk itself. The minimal lines of all the byLassen products is like red thread throughout this space and makes for a very coherent look which is minimal yet fresh.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with byLassen, however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about byLassen, you can visit their website or take a look at the stylish examples on their Instagram and Pinterest.

Living room, office and bedroom in one

post

When you live in a small space, you often have to use a single room for multiple purposes. This setup can easily become crowded with furniture, but if you do it right and optimise the space it can work very nicely. This small studio is a great example of this. It combines a bedroom, living room and office space all in a single room, while still keeping enough empty space around each area to create a spacious look and feel.

Notice the closed storage space against the wall and underneath the bed. This is a very important part of this clean look, because while you want to put your pretty things on display, for every pretty thing we just have that many less aesthetic stuff that we want to hide away don’t we ? The String shelf* above the desk on the other hand is the perfect spot to put those pretty accessories on display.

Montana furniture in my home office

post

Ever since I quit my day job about three years ago and started to work full-time on my blog and art prints, work hasn’t felt like work anymore. I love what I do and couldn’t be more grateful to be allowed to do this all year round. Even though I love what I do, I still work long days and most of these days are spend in front of my computer. I try to take breaks ever so often and go to the gym daily, but I can feel that being seated in front of the computer for such long stretches of time starts to take its toll on my back.

Things changed completely though ever since I got the Montana furniture HiLow 2 work desk, which is adjustable in height. I’m actually standing at my work desk as we speak, while writing this article. I love the fact that I can alternate between sitting and standing and am switching all day long. The little automatic switch (which you can see in the last picture) makes it so easy to make the desk higher or lower and it just moves with you as you stand up or sit down.

While I’m sitting down I often get tired and I notice that my attention span reduces. When I switch to a standing position, It feels like I get new energy and I notice I’m way more efficient in completing the tasks I have to do. When I get tired from standing, I just lower the desk again and sit down for a while.

The Hilow 2 work desk is fully customisable and all cables are hidden in a cable tray underneath the table top. I chose to include a built in socket on the table top itself so I can easily plug and unplug my phone and laptop. The work desk is connected with a single plug into the wall socket and you don’t have to worry about any cables being caught behind something when moving the desk up and down.

Next to the desk, I also placed a Montana System drawer element in the color Latte. While the desk is clean and white, I love the soft color combination with the beige of the drawers and it’s so great to keep all the little things that would otherwise crowd my desk.

Outdoor office

post

Ever since decorating the lounge area on my balcony (you can see more pictures in this blogpost) we just had a few good days here in Munich and then a full month of rain and cold so I didn’t get to really enjoy my balcony yet. This week summer hit the city though and I’m taking every chance I get to enjoy my outdoor space. This morning I have been replying emails from my lounge sofa and love how everything just feels so much less like work when you can do it outside.
