Village school house by Norm Architects

post

Renowned Danish design agency Norm Architects has recently completed the renovation and modernization of a Village School house originally built in 1721 with respect to the old traditional building style, however completely modernized on the inside.

The interior is tailored to a busy modern-life family with three children. The flooring throughout the entire house is cast magnesite, paired with bright white walls and oak paneling that connects the material choices of the different floors and functional areas.

The bespoke kitchen by Kolon stretches from one room to another, seamlessly fitting into the architecture, while also including all functionalities necessary in a family kitchen. The kitchen is built entirely in oak with brass knobs and a great stone countertop that resembles the outdoor nature.

The large round dining table fitted with oak Wishbone chairs provides a great spot for the family to gather and have meals together. The material selection of the dining area complements the one of the kitchen design perfectly.

A modern staircase with integrated storage functionality

The innovative staircase is designed in the same oak material that has been used in the rest of the schoolhouse. Each step is made into a cabinet door underneath the staircase, providing storage for both small and bigger items.

The oak finishes that can be found in the rest of the house come back in the gorgeous bathrooms as well, however, here they are combined with beautiful clay plaster walls that add a natural texture to the calming design. The choice of natural materials accentuates the organic forms that can be observed on the walls of the bathroom, creating a soft atmosphere.

Smart storage underneath the bed

Just like in the staircase, in the master bedroom, you can find a smart and custom storage module. The area underneath the bed includes oak drawers integrated into the bed frame, ideal for storing away blankets and less-used clothing.

Loft home with a minimal sage green kitchen

post

This beautiful loft home in Sweden (photographed by Adam Helbaoui, sold via Innerstadsspecialisten) has an impressive black metal window that provides the entire apartment with an abundance of natural light. On the other side of the loft, you can find a kitchen with a loft level on top containing the bedroom, which can be accessed by the beautiful black metal staircase next to the sofa.

The loft features a wide array of custom storage modules that were designed when remodeling this place to optimize storage and functionality on a relatively small floor space.

A living room with an impressive window and a ceiling-high custom storage solution

In the front section of the loft space, you can find the living room, which is decorated in an elegant, minimal way. The white fabric couch on top of the large white area rug paired with the white walls provides a beautiful light base palette that is enhanced with black accent pieces to complement the majestic black metal window.

The impressive ceiling height in the living room section is accentuated by the impressive custom bookshelf that includes closed storage modules on the bottom, integrated LED lighting, a home library, and a spot for the TV. I think this is a true masterpiece in the space.

The round mirror above the sofa reflects the space in an elegant way, while the Monstera plant adds a fresh pop of green to the setting.

Underneath the black metal loft level, you can find a beautiful sage-green kitchen module. Right behind the black metal staircase, you can find the tall kitchen modules including the fridge and electronic appliances. These tall cupboards have a white finish and transform into an entryway storage section right next to the front door of the loft.

The sage green kitchen cabinets are paired with a matching kitchen wall color, a tick white marble countertop, and elegant metal hardware.

The beige stone dining table paired with the light grey Series 7 chairs connects the kitchen with the rest of the living space.

The bedroom is located on the second level on top of the kitchen, right underneath the beautifully curved ceiling the building architecture provides. The grey rug that covers the entire loft floor is paired with a light grey custom hardware that fits perfectly underneath the lower ceiling.

The bed is made with a mixture of white and beige textiles and two beautiful portable lamps on the bedside tables that match the color palette perfectly.

A floating desk right next to the bedroom wardrobe provides a small spot to work from home, without taking up too much surface in this loft home. I think the desk fits perfectly in between the wardrobe and the railing, blending in with the addition of the black table lamp, black chair, and the set of black and white prints decorating the wall.

The soft beige tiles on both the floors and the walls in this bathroom provide the space with an elegant setting from which the chrome fixtures and white porcelain stand out.

Light beige walls paired with blue accents in a historic Swedish flat

post

This gorgeous historic apartment in Sweden (styled by Grey Deco, photographed by Henrik Linden, for sale at Alvhem) has intricate white historic details in the interior architecture, paired with white-soaped hardwood flooring for a light base palette that is enhanced with a subtle light beige wall color in both the living room and bedroom.

Both spaces, separated by a double interior door are decorated in a natural color palette, with a few touches of blue that add a true focal point to the interior design.

The simple white kitchen features white kitchen cabinets paired with wood countertops and black hardware. The layout of the kitchen cabinets is planned to include a little breakfast nook to optimize the floor plan to include both the kitchen and a dining area.

The kitchen floor plan is rather narrow, yet by optimizing and including two kitchen modules and a breakfast nook, both kitchen and dining functionality can be shared in the same space. The kitchen cabinets are lowered towards a bench against the wall, which is paired with a narrow dining table to allow enough space at the kitchen sink.

Bright two-level home with a light palette decor

post

This beautiful Swedish apartment on two levels (for sale via Alvhem) is flooded with daylight coming through the windows, which gets reflected nicely on the light wall color and the light palette interior color palette.

On the first level, you can find a living room and dining room, with a reading corner utilizing the otherwise lost space underneath the staircase. The entryway includes a custom white mudroom bench that matches the overall light palette of the interior.

The second level includes a large master bedroom with a seating area, a kid’s room, and a niche space with a floating desk that can be used as a home office.

The space right next to the living room includes a bright white staircase to go to the master bedroom on the second level. This space makes for a perfect dining room with oak wood dining chairs and a cozy reading corner transforms the otherwise unused space underneath the staircase.

A simple kitchen with greige walls and a small dining area

Even though the kitchen itself looks a bit dated and the new owners will most likely remodel it, the general setting of this room looks stylish and inviting because of the cozy dining room setting by the window.

A large wall shelf placed high up above the dining table is great for holding wine bottles, glasses, and accessories. The shelf gives this section a unique look.

A spacious master bedroom underneath the sloped roof

On the second level, underneath the sloped roof, you can find a master bedroom with a seating area and so much daylight coming in through those rooftop windows. The light color palette present on the first floor also comes back in the master bedroom, with white, beige, and natural tones decorating the space.

The bamboo bench behind the bed is a great decor element and the off-white wool rug offers a soft surface to place your feet on when you get up in the morning. The black bedside tables with green plants add a bit of contrast to this beautiful bedroom section, while the striped headboard adds a beautiful texture.

On the other side of the master bedroom, you can find a seating area with a white couch and a white fluffy area rug. The wood tones in the Wishbone chair and the blanket on the sofa add a beautiful warm element to this setting.

A home office with a floating desk in a niche spot by the staircase

A niche spot by the staircase includes a floating desk, which makes for a perfect home office spot to get some work done. This area would otherwise not be used for any other functionality anyways. I believe that an awkward rooftop niche can be found behind the curtain, which doesn’t need to be accessed so often but is great for storing items that are not used that often.

A hallway with a custom mudroom bench and a large mirror

The hallway on the first level is fitted with a custom white mudroom bench that includes closed storage drawers on the bottom and an elegant coat rack on top. The custom elements are white, just like the wall so they blend in nicely. The large mirror next to it is great for checking your outfit before you go, yet it also reflects daylight back into the entryway space.

Light grey kitchen cabinets and a breakfast nook in a stylish Swedish home

post

The focal point in this beautiful Swedish flat (photographed by Krister Engström, styled by Livindeco, sold via Kvarteret Mäkleri) is definitely the modern light grey kitchen with the custom breakfast nook fitted in between two pantries. The kitchen lies right next to the living room and is connected by an open-plan layout.

The living room features greige walls, a textural area rug, and a TV that’s integrated inside of a beautiful gallery wall, making it a beautiful decor element in the space.

Both the master bedroom and the kid’s room have a delicate wallpaper design that adds an elegant and slightly romantic touch and the hallway hides away a small home office space behind the curtain.

The kitchen is built alongside the entire kitchen wall and includes a combination of light grey kitchen cabinets, chrome hardware, and a beige natural stone countertop that results in a modern yet cozy appearance.

The top half of the wall above the kitchen sink doesn’t have any upper cabinets. Instead, it features a beautiful wooden wall shelf with a peg rail underneath it.

A cozy breakfast nook inside a niche space between two walk-in pantries

The custom breakfast nook on the other side of the kitchen is built in between two pantries and the grey fabric bench is made to fit the space. The wall shelf used above the kitchen sink comes back on the wall in the breakfast nook and displays a beautiful selection of ceramic plates.

The white marble kitchen dining table is narrow to fit the kitchen layout and above it, two classic pendant lights finish off the setting nicely.

A spacious living room with greige walls and a textural area rug

The living room features greige walls, paired with white and beige textiles, which results in a soft and inviting look. The large textured area rug covers a large portion of the living room flooring and complements the two different couch designs perfectly.

A TV gallery wall for an impressive effect in the space

A TV is one of the most challenging things to decorate and including it inside of a TV gallery wall is a perfect way to make it blend in.

The TV is surrounded by a selection of art prints in natural colors and on the bottom you can find two wall shelves offering storage space for magazines and a few complementing decor elements.

A delicate pattern wallpaper in the bedroom paired with an impressive headboard

The bedroom wallpaper enhances the look of the interior and adds a delicate touch in combination with the impressive headboard that continues up to the ceiling. The beige and natural color palette of the bedroom textiles and accessories allow for the wallpaper to shine and the black accents offer a lovely contrast.

A floating desk behind a curtain in the hallway

A small home office spot finds its place behind a curtain in the hallway. A floating desk is paired with floating shelves for extra storage space and I love the way the dark stained wood stands out against the grey wall color and the white curtain.
